Rodless Cylinder Pressure refers to the size of the cylinder compression pressure when the piston reaches the top dead center at the end of compression. Insufficient cylinder pressure means that the cylinder sealing is reduced, which will reduce the engine power and make it difficult to start. Insufficient pressure in some cylinders will make the engine unstable.
A. Cause of failure
1 The side clearance and opening end clearance of the piston ring are too large, or the maze route of the air ring opening becomes shorter, or the sealing surface of the piston ring is worn, and its sealing becomes worse.
2. Excessive wear of the piston and cylinder increases the gap between the matching cylinders. The piston moves and swings in the cylinder, affecting the good fit and sealing between the piston ring and the cylinder.
3. The piston ring is stuck in the piston ring groove due to glue and carbon deposition, which makes the ring's own elasticity unable to play, and loses the first sealing surface between the piston ring and the cylinder wall.
4. The cylinder is strained. When the cylinder is strained, the seal between the piston ring and the cylinder is broken, resulting in low cylinder pressure.
5. An unmatched piston is installed. For example, some engines use pistons with different depths of pits on the top. If used incorrectly, it will affect the cylinder pressure.
6. The cylinder gasket is damaged, the valve-seat ring is loose, the valve spring is broken or the spring is insufficient, the valve and the valve guide are blocked due to carbon deposition or too small a gap, which hinders the up and down movement of the valve, etc., resulting in poor valve sealing;
7 The timing gear is installed incorrectly, the gear keyway is incorrect, the timing gear is damaged or worn too much, the wheel load and wheel looseness on the camshaft timing gear, etc., resulting in incorrect valve timing.
8 The cylinder head that does not match is used. For example, the combustion chamber volume of some cylinder heads may be different. If it is installed incorrectly, it will affect the cylinder pressure.
9 The intake and exhaust valve clearance is improperly adjusted, or: the seal with the valve seat is not tight, or the operation is improper when testing the cylinder pressure.
10 For engines equipped with a decompression device, the clearance of the decompression device is improperly adjusted, so that the valve is not closed tightly.
B. Fault repair
There are many methods for detecting cylinder pressure with a cylinder pressure gauge at present. The cylinder pressure can be detected by measuring the starter current and starter voltage; another method is to use a hose to measure compressed air cylinder by cylinder.
